Target = Business Tourism for Fremantle

The Fremantle Conference Directory

When the Fremantle Chamber reestablished its Tourism Committee in 2015, talk around the table very quickly turned to the topic of marketing Fremantle, who does it, how much and targets. We all know Fremantle is the second most visited destination in WA and made the Lonely Planet Top 10 Places in the World to Travel for 2016 but our combined facilities, experience and hospitality offerings weren’t being profiled anywhere to reach the national and international business tourism market.

Even though our marketing investment could be in people time only, the Chamber decided to take the bull by the horn.

Fremantle has the capacity to host conferences with up to 1000 people and our accommodation capacity is growing. Even when we don’t get to host a complete conference, Fremantle is still a great destination for conference breakout sessions, special events, dinners, and delegates extending their stays pre/post conference.

The reality check is that we don’t have the capacity to host it giga-normous conferences in the resources sector, but even they are a rare beast.

From our membership of the Perth Convention Bureau, we receive advice of every conference coming into Western Australia. To take advantage of that information we have created the Fremantle Conference Directory. This is a digital publication showcasing base details of our members (and only our members) in tourism and hospitality and provides hyperlinks to websites and contact emails for potential bookers to research the offering of individual businesses further.

As a digital only document we can add, update and subtract information, changing images and expanding to reflect membership. Version 1 is live and being distributed. It is also featured in the Resources section of our website – click here to view the web page in your browser.

The Fremantle Conference Directory sits alongside the Chamber’s Fremantle MICE Brochure & fly through video. These are from a collaboration between major businesses promoting Fremantle at the 2016 AIME. Congratulations to the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle – by Rydges, Rottnest Express, WA Maritime Museum, Fremantle Prison, Fremantle Markets, Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation and Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour on the collaboration. The Perth Convention Bureau are distributing the links of the Fremantle marketing material internationally.
