Tap into UnionPay – China’s way to pay

Shopping ranks in the top 3 activities for Chinese visitors traveling to Wester Australia. Souvenir and gift shopping for friends, family and colleagues in particular. We are constantly asked by Chinese travel agents about businesses in the Perth metropolitan area that have UnionPay.

Below are some facts relating to UnionPay

Retailers should consider all aspects that will attract more customers and the Chamber supports implementing UnionPay.

The number of Chinese visitors to Perth is rising by more than 30% each year and there is a USD$5000 cash cap for all Chinese when travelling overseas. UnionPay connects the consumer directly to their bank account and therefore represents unlimited spending in Australia. Become a Chinese-friendly retailer in this increasingly competitive retail environment – if you’re a NAB or CBA merchant you’re connected to UnionPay already!

For more information on how you can help raise Perth’s profile as a Chinese-friendly shopping destination contact the Chamber on (08) 9335 2711or email Tim Milsom.

If you already use UnionPay can you please let me know so that we can put together a list of businesses that are UnionPay friendly.
